The Lunchroom is a 40-seat restaurant and café within SPACE 519, a concept store in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood, just off of the Magnificent Mile. Featuring breakfast and lunch, weekend brunch, and an all-day café. The Lunchroom focuses on vegetable forward, California style cuisine and places a heavy focus on locally-sourced ingredients. The menu was developed by SPACE 519 co-owner Lance Lawson, drawing from his experiences abroad as well as his love for cooking and entertaining.
Located just inside the entrance of SPACE 519, is The Lunchbox - offering a rotating assortment of house-made baked goods, sandwiches, and side salads along with a featured quiche and tart of the day - all designed to be taken to go. "Take and Bake" offerings are also featured including family-sized casseroles and pasta pie packed in bake-ready containers. Home to a mini wine shop, a tightly-curated selection of bottels great for gifting as well as personal enjoyment can also be purchased. The Lunchbox's Barista Bar serves up made to order coffee and tea drinks, making it a popular neighborhood stop, open daily from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
In the warmer months, The Lunchroom features a 24-seat dog friendly sidewalk café. Located on a tree-lined street, The Patio features black and white striped European-style café umbrellas, modern teak tables and white chairs, with glossy white planters and box hedges enclosed by herringbone fencing.
The Lunchroom’s design aesthetic reflects the same attention to detail as the artfully-curated menu. The space is light and airy with windows and alcoves featuring potted plants and walls draped in Sister Parish wall covering. A custom scalloped green leather banquette and natural maple wood accents lend a layer of warmth throughout the room. Two rustic farm tables placed end to end allow for communal seating for up to 14 guests.
